MANNING (AP) — A jury has found a 26-year-old Manning man not guilty of threatening the life of a judge and a former prosecutor in a YouTube rap video.
The Item of Sumter reported that a Clarendon County jury took five hours before acquitting Keith Gadson of charges related to the video. Gadson remains in jail awaiting trial for an unrelated armed robbery charge.
In the video, Gadson and Rodregiz Cole rap, “Amy Land and Ferrell Cothran, I have your brains on the boulevard.” The two were involved as judge and prosecutor in a 2011 drug case that sent the men to jail.
Gadson’s lawyer says the lyric was a metaphor and the court officials’ names represented a gun.
Cole was convicted of similar charges and sentenced to four years in prison.
