COLUMBIA (AP) — Former South Carolina running back Kenny Miles has been arrested and charged with giving false information to police about a November shooting.
Miles turned himself in Tuesday. The ex-Gamecock player was discovered with a gunshot wound to his arm on November 4th. At the time, Miles told officials he was shot during an attempted robbery.
A week later, Sheriff Leon Lott said Miles shot himself and then told authorities a false story. Miles apologized in a November statement for his mistake and said he was not involved in criminal activity.
An arrest warrant says Miles changed his story several times before telling deputies he was trying to kill himself.
Miles gained for 1,341 yards from 2009-12 with South Carolina.
