BEAUFORT (AP) — A man accused of killing a Charleston woman has been charged in the death of a Bluffton woman.
Jerry Lee Manigault, 53, of Hollywood, was charged Monday with murder, sexual battery, burglary and grand larceny in the death of 70-year-old Polly Ann Mitchell.
Manigault was also charged with murder, kidnapping and strong armed robbery in the death of Julia Ann Mudgett, 77, of Hollywood, last month.
Police say sometime between May 4 and May 6, Manigault broke into Mudgett’s home and killed her and stole her car. The car was found May 12 in Ridgeland. Mudgett’s body was found in some woods less than a mile from her home May 16.
Police say Manigault broke into Mitchell’s home in Bluffton on May 12 and killed her. He also is accused of taking $2,000 in property from her home.
It was not clear if he has an attorney for the charges in Mitchell’s death.
