William P. (Will) Walker III has joined the firm of Walker & Morgan in Lexington, where he will focus on personal injury litigation. Walker, the son of founding partner Billy Walker, received his degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Amanda C. Williams has joined the Charleston office of McNair Law Firm as an associate. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Williams focuses primarily on professional malpractice defense and business tort defense.
Teri K. Stomski, special counsel at Rogers Townsend & Thomas, has been named an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law and will focus on real estate transactions. She currently serves as president of the Palmetto Land Title Association.
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough has elected Columbia partner James K. Lehman as its new managing partner. He will oversee the firm’s 12 offices and more than 430 attorneys and government relations professionals, as well as more than 500 support staff. Lehman will maintain his practices in the areas of business litigation and investigations and environmental litigation. He replaces David E. Dukes, who is stepping down after serving as managing partner of the firm since 2001.
Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd said it has formed Copper Dome Strategies in Columbia to handle governmental relations. Jeff Thordahl, Billy Routh, and Kimberly Varnadoe (Kim) Kent have joined the firm, and will work with Carl Blackstone and Mike Tongour on regulatory affairs, public policy, and legislative activities.
Also at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, shareholder William C. (Bill) Boyd received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award from the Richland County Bar Association at its annual meeting in December.
Ann Hsu Kaufman has joined Moore & Van Allen’s corporate practice group in Charleston as Counsel. Kaufman practices corporate law, with a focus on commercial real estate law, project and structured finance, and distressed asset management.
Richardson, Plowden & Robinson said Jocelyn Newman of the Columbia office has been appointed as an associate member of the state Board of Law Examiners.
Alexander E. Davis has joined Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte in Columbia as an associate. His practice will focus on products liability, healthcare litigation and construction litigation.
Nexsen Pruet has hired three new associates. Kenny Gardner joined the firm’s business litigation Group in Charleston; Sima Patel joined the business litigation group in Greenville; and Tommy Preston joined the financial services and economic development group in Columbia.
