Workers’ Compensation – ‘Accident’ – Expected Injury – Pre-existing Condition – Doctor’s Warning – Bunions – Prolonged Standing (access required)

Landry v. Carolinas Healthcare Systems Where the claimant had been diagnosed with bunions when she was 13 years old and had been warned by her doctor that prolonged standing could aggravate her condition, the aggravation of the claimant’s bunions by the prolonged standing required by her job was not an unexpected injury; therefore, it is not compensable under the Workers’ Compensation Act. We affirm the denial of benefits.
