Amanda C. Williams has joined the Charleston office of McNair Law Firm as an associate. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Williams focuses primarily on professional malpractice defense and business tort defense.

Teri K. Stomski, special counsel at Rogers Townsend & Thomas, has been named an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law and will focus on real estate transactions. She currently serves as president of the Palmetto Land Title Association.

Womble Carlyle attorney Mike Cashman has been selected to attend the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy.  Cashman, a business litigation attorney in Womble Carlyle’s Greenville office, previously served as an infantry officer and Airborne Ranger in the United States Army.

Also selected for the Leadership Academy is Erin Farrell Farthing, an associate with Columbia’s McKay, Cauthen, Settana, & Stubley. Farthing focuses on trucking and transportation law, general insurance defense, governmental defense, civil rights and section 1983 defense.

McAngus Goudelock & Courie said Emily C. Sheets has joined the firm’s Charleston office, where she will practice construction law and general liability defense. She’s a graduate of Regent University School of Law.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart said Shannon Metz has joined the Greenville office as an associate. Metz primarily practices employment law and business litigation.

Outside the Law

Elaine H. Fowler of Turner Padget Graham & Laney has been elected vice chair of the Sullivan’s Island Planning Commission. Fowler has served on the commission since 2005.
