HANAHAN (AP) — A former human resources director in Hanahan has been charged with embezzling public funds.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Thursday (bit.ly/R3msjN) that Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies arrested 31-year-old Keyonda Garry on Monday. Police documents say Garry is accused of depositing $10,000 in city funds into her bank account in June.
City administrator Johnny Cribb says Garry had worked for the city since June of 2011. She was put on leave Aug. 3 and resigned Aug. 8.
Hanahan police Lt. Michael Fowler says the sheriff’s office is investigating to avoid any conflict of interest.
