FORT MILL (AP) — York County deputies have shot and killed a man they say pointed a gun at them.
The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a home in Fort Mill early Tuesday morning to check on someone who was reportedly suicidal.
Deputies say they shot a 28-year-old man after he pointed a gun at them.
No deputies were injured, and the man’s name has not been released. As is customary in officer-involved shootings, the State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
This is the second officer-involved shooting involving York deputies this year. In February, a deputy shot a 70-year-old man as he reached for a cane in the bed of his truck during a traffic stop.
That man was hospitalized and survived.
