Hutchens Law Firm has opened a new office in Columbia, led by managing attorney John Kay and practicing attorneys John Kelchner and Ashley Z. Stanley.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart announced that Ashley Karen Kerr has joined the firm’s Columbia office as an associate. Kerr, who is fluent in Japanese, will practice in Ogletree Deakins’ immigration practice group.

Gallivan, White & Boyd announced that senior shareholder H. Mills Gallivan has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. Gallivan has spent 38 years as a civil defense litigator in the areas of workplace practices, personal injury and commercial matters. He now focuses on mediation.

Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman has hired Matthew A. Nickles as an associate attorney. Nickles will practice in the areas of antitrust, class actions and securities fraud.

Jonathan “JP” Lee of Sojourner Caughman & Thomas in Columbia has been named a 2014-2016 trust and estate fellow of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association.

John E. Rosen of Rosen Hagood has become a member of the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates. Rosen’s practice includes corporate and business transactions and commercial real estate issues.

Womble Carlyle attorney Mike Cashmanhas been selected to serve a two-year term on the South Carolina Bar’s Judicial Qualifications Committee. Cashman is a business litigator in Womble Carlyle’s Greenville office.  

McNair Law Firm announced the addition of associate Lane Jefferies to the firm’s Myrtle Beach office. Lane’s practice focuses on commercial litigation.

The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce has selected Patrick Cleary of Bowman and Brooke to participate in the 2015 Leadership Columbia Program. Cleary is an associate in the firm’s Columbia office who practices primarily in the area of product liability litigation.

Brandon Jones, an attorney with McKay, Cauthen, Settana, & Stubley, has been selected to participate in Leadership Columbia. Jones’ practice focuses primarily on civil litigation defense, including transportation law, government liability and general insurance law.

Collins & Lacy announced that communications manager Janie Langdale has been selected to join Leadership Columbia.
