ST. GEORGE, S.C. (AP) — A Summerville teen has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to reckless homicide and hit-and-run in an accident that killed a Summerville woman.
Local media outlets report that 18-year-old Cullen Dupree entered the plea in Dorchester County on Monday. The charges stem from an August, 2013, crash that killed 21-year-old Amanda Carey.
Authorities said Dupree was driving recklessly. Witnesses said when Dupree saw Carey’s Jeep passing him, he swerved to try to block it, hitting the Jeep and causing the crash.
Authorities say Dupree did not immediately stop, but took two passengers in his vehicle home before returning to the scene of the accident.
