CHARLESTON (AP) — A North Charleston man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted in the shooting death of a man nearly two years ago.
Multiple media outlets reported that jurors deliberated more than 15 hours before finding 22-year-old Jalann Lee Williams guilty of murder and possession of a gun.
Twenty-one-year-old Akeen Jamal Ladson of North Charleston was found dead Jan. 31, 2014, in an SUV.
Investigators said Williams and 33-year-old Robert Mitchell II of Hanahan were involved in a drug transaction with Ladson when he was killed.
Mitchell testified against Williams during the trial.
Williams said the shooting was an accident.
