Disciplinary action: Suspended from the practice of law for nine months on Feb. 17
Background: In 11 different matters, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel mailed a notice of investigation to Sample requesting a response to a client complaint. In each case, Sample failed to reply within the allotted 15 days. In some of the cases, Sample was found to have violated one or more of the Rules of Professional Conduct, including failing to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client; failing to keep a client reasonably informed and reply promptly to requests for information; making an agreement for an unreasonable fee; and failing to take steps to protect a client’s interest after the representation has been terminated. In three cases, Sample also failed to timely pay judgments ordered by the Resolution of Fee Disputes Board.
