SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — An Inman man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a 10-year-old girl.
According to a statement from 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette, 44-year-old Cecil Quinn Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to criminal sexual contact with a minor.
The crime was reported to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in September 2015. The statement says a family member told deputies they realized something was wrong when the girl began asking what rape was.
The child underwent a forensic examination at the Children’s Advocacy Center. The statement says the child gave descriptions of tattoos on various locations of Quinn’s body.
Assistant Solicitor Megan Moricle says the girl showed “a tremendous amount of courage” when telling investigators details of the crime.
