A suspended South Carolina sheriff faces more charges.
A Greenville County grand jury has indicted Will Lewis on six charges of misconduct and one of obstruction of justice.
The latest misconduct charges include intimidating witnesses in a State Law Enforcement Division investigation, fraud, improper disposal of seized assets, misuse of public resources and abuse of power to pursue an adulterous relationship.
He’s also charged with advancing or oppressing the careers of deputies because of personal bias.
The obstruction of justice charge stems from the SLED investigation.
He had been charged with misconduct and perjury in February. Lewis was originally charged last April.
Lewis’ attorney, Rauch Wise, has not commented on the latest charges. Wise has previously said Lewis was innocent.
Lewis has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit by an ex-employee.
