South Carolina Department of Social Services v. Pringle The only substantive evidence that the (divorced) defendant-father sexually abused his daughters came in the form of hearsay from a forensic interviewer, who does not fall within any of the categories set out in S.C. Code Ann. § 19-1-180(G). The videotaped statements made by the non-testifying children to the forensic interviewer were erroneously admitted, and they prejudiced the father.

South Carolina Department of Social Services v. Jennifer M. : Since the defendant-mother did not know she was pregnant, the family court erred in ruling that she abused or neglected her unborn child when she used drugs during the pregnancy. We reverse the finding of abuse and/or neglect and the order that the mother’s name be entered into the Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect.
