CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The City of Charleston is joining with child protection groups in dedicating a small park in the South Carolina city’s historic district.
Mayor Joe Riley joins representatives of the Lowcountry Children’s Center and the Children’s Trust of South Carolina on Monday in dedicating the park to an effort to prevent child abuse.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and pinwheels represent working to change the way the nation looks at child abuse prevention.
The Pinwheels for Prevention Garden is in a small park on the triangular median where two streets meet. It is located near Colonial Lake on the Charleston peninsula.
