A lawyer with long ties to the has been named for the South Carolina Judicial Branch.

Daniel E. was appointed to the position by state , a Judicial Branch news release says.

“I am so pleased to announce that our outstanding Clerk of Court Dan Shearouse has accepted my appointment as the State Court Administrator, effective August 1, 2024,” the chief justice said in the release. “Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this important position, and I am confident that everyone joins me in congratulating him and thanking him for his service.”

The appointment brings Shearouse back into state service. He was appointed as the state in 1998, the release says, and retired in 2021. He also was appointed the court’s in 1986.

His legal career also includes 29 years active and reserve service with the , from which he retired as a .
