Almost 300 candidates recently cleared a key hurdle to begin their legal careers — earning a passing score on South Carolina’s bar exam.
The South Carolina Supreme Court recently released the list of 296 candidates who reached a scaled score of at least 266 on the Uniform Bar Examination, a news release says. They took the exam in July.
From the University of South Carolina, 133 of 163 candidates who took the exam were successful, an 81.6% pass rate. From the Charleston School of Law, 97 or 138 cleared the bar, a 70.29% pass rate.
From other law schools, 66 of 109 candidates — 60.55% — passed.
The overall pass rate was 72.2%, the release says.
The list of successful candidates was released Friday, Oct. 18.
