Moore & Van Allen announced that William “Bill” Rust and Felix C. Pelzer have recently been elected as the firm’s newest members. Pelzer practices in the firm’s Charleston office and is a member of the firm’s estate and wealth planning and federal & international taxation practice teams. Rust practices in the Charleston office as well and is a member of the firm’s corporate and health care practice teams.

McKay, Cauthen, Settana, & Stubley announced the addition of Charles Kinney as an associate in the firm’s Columbia office. Kinney practices in the areas of government defense, general insurance defense, trucking and transportation law, commercial and business litigation, civil litigation defense, and products liability defense.

Turner Padget announced that Thomas M. Kennaday has been elected Chairman of the advisory board of The First Tee of Columbia. The First Tee of Columbia is an official Chapter of The First Tee, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation. Kennaday is of counsel in Turner Padget’s Columbia office and he practices complex civil litigation, including automotive product liability and toxic torts. Kennaday is also certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a certified civil court mediator.

Smith Moore Leatherwood attorney Patrick M. Kane is among the thirteen lawyers to receive the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) 2015 Citizen Lawyer Award. Kane is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and appellate practice group in the Greensboro office.

Carlock, Copeland & Stair announced thatLee Weatherly has accepted a client nomination to join the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM).  CLM is an alliance of insurance companies, corporations, corporate counsel, litigation and risk managers, claims professionals and attorneys with the goal of promoting and furthering the highest standards of litigation management in pursuit of client defense. Weatherly’s practice focuses on cases involving general liability, automobile and motor carrier accidents, commercial litigation, employment contracts, correctional health care, medical malpractice, and premises liability.

Bowman and Brooke is pleased to announce that Angela Strickland has been appointed to a three year term as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s section of litigation automotive subcommittee. A partner in the firm’s Columbia office, Strickland has a background in motor vehicle product liability litigation.

Gallivan, White & Boyd announced that Lindsay Joyner has been elected Secretary/Treasurer of the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division. Joyner practices law from the firm’s  Columbia office. Her practice places an emphasis on banking, business and commercial litigation, professional negligence, and economic development.
