The Charleston School of Law has tapped a longtime faculty member as its interim president.
Constance A. Anastopoulo was named to the position by the school’s trustees, a news release dated Friday says.
Edward J. Bell III, the trustees’ chairman and the school’s president emeritus, touted her service to Charleston Law.
“Professor Anastopoulo has served our school for many years and in many capacities, including as a professor, advisor to the Charleston Law Review and the Journal of Public Policy, as well as several other student organizations, and as chair of many committees,” he said in the release. “Professor Anastopoulo exemplifies our commitment to excellent teaching and our faculty’s devotion to students.”
Anastopoulo came to the school in 2007. Among her other achievements there, she has been named Professor of the Year by the students and has been honored by the Black Law Students Association for her commitment to meaningful legal and political change.
Before joining the faculty, she practiced as senior litigator in the civil litigation division of Poulin, Willey, Anastopoulo in Charleston and managed its appellate practice.
“I have been a part of Charleston School of Law for the past 17 years,” she said in the release, “and I am excited to build on the amazing work we are doing and to continue to support our faculty and staff to empower students and shape the next generation of lawyers.”
