Ex-magistrate sentenced for embezzling county cash

Listen to this articleFAIRFAX (AP) — A former county magistrate has been ordered to repay more than $11,000 in court fines that authorities say he embezzled from Allendale County.
Prosecutor Duffie Stone says Carl Love of Fairfax was sentenced after pleading guilty Tuesday to misconduct in office.
Circuit Judge Ernest Kinard also ordered Love to serve six months of house arrest.
The State Law Enforcement Division arrested Love in 2006. Stone says Love admitted he took nearly $11,500 in court fines instead of depositing the money into a county bank account between 2004 and 2006.
