Joshua D. Shaw maintains a thriving practice as a partner, litigator and certified Circuit Court mediator at Hedrick Gardner, focusing largely on the construction industry. For Shaw, the best part of his practice is solving complicated problems.

While the complexity that is inherent in construction law constantly provides new challenges, Shaw values the practice area for the opportunities to deploy advocacy and creativity. At the end of the day, helping his clients resolve tough matters is what his career is all about.

“I enjoy the process of evaluating the complexities and crafting arguments, but I also have decided to use my experience to help resolve matters for others,” he says. “There is nothing more thrilling in my profession than a courtroom victory, but the essence of the job is bringing a dispute to a satisfactory conclusion for the client,”

Shaw also gives back to his profession and is poised to chair the 2025-26 Construction Law Section of the South Carolina Bar.
