Laura E. Paris Paton is known for her tenacious advocacy for her clients and her skills in driving solutions.

“With almost 20 years of practice behind me, I have learned that the squeaky wheel gets the grease,” she says. “My clients know I am not going to sit on the sidelines and wait for another attorney to do the heavy lifting.”

Paton jumped into construction law when her law firm had a need to fill, and she loved it.

“Construction law is about negotiating, and I enjoy the challenge of untangling legal and technical issues to reach practical resolutions,” she says. “Plus, the community comprises smart, pragmatic and civil attorneys, making it a great environment in which to practice.”

Paton views the construction practice area as constantly evolving due to booming growth.

“With the increase in litigation we have seen in the past few years, I anticipate construction insurers will take a more aggressive stance on settlement, and we will see more matters go to arbitration and trial,” she says.
